JUSTIN;’The dream isn’t over: The Phillies still have an outside shot at Juan Soto thanks to personal connections.

As baseball fans eagerly await the excitement of Spring 2025, many are focused on superstar Juan Soto, hoping to see him sign a major contract. After coming close to a World Series title with the New York Yankees, Soto is now a free agent, seeking a historic deal.

While all 30 MLB teams would love to add Soto, only a few have the financial means to make it happen. The New York Yankees, Mets, Los Angeles Dodgers, Toronto Blue Jays, and Boston Red Sox are among the frontrunners. However, the Philadelphia Phillies may also have an outside shot at landing the slugger.

In 2024, the Phillies broke Atlanta’s streak of consecutive division titles, winning the National League East with a 95-67 record. After falling to the New York Mets in the postseason, they will be looking for redemption in 2025, and Soto could be a key piece of that pursuit.

Although signing Soto would be challenging due to the $700 million-plus contract he seeks, a personal connection could make it more feasible. Soto played with Bryce Harper and Trea Turner during his time with the Washington Nationals, and though the trio wasn’t together when the Nationals won the 2019 World Series, they enjoyed considerable success. Bringing them together again, alongside stars like Kyle Schwarber, could turn the Phillies into a new World Series contender. It’s a long shot, but with strong personal ties, anything is possible.
