Matt McMahon and the LSU Tigers are making waves in the transfer portal. On Wednesday, they secured their third commitment of the offseason, landing former Northeastern guard Rashad King.
King, a seasoned three-year player, had a breakout 2024-2025 season, averaging 18.5 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game. After exploring his options in the portal, he chose LSU as his next destination.
A First-Team All-CAA selection, King also earned three CAA Player of the Week honors this past season. He played 36.5 minutes per game while leading Northeastern in scoring, shooting 44.9% from the field and 31.9% from deep. At 6-foot-6 and 204 pounds, King brings much-needed size to LSU’s wing position, adding versatility as both a shooter and a slasher. His best performance came against Hampton, where he dropped 32 points on 10-of-15 shooting, along with six rebounds and two assists.
With King’s addition, LSU has now secured three top-100 transfers per 247Sports: Dedan Thomas Jr. (8th), Rashad King (79th), and Michael Nwoko (81st). The program’s increased NIL support appears to be paying off, as the Tigers currently boast the No. 1 transfer class in the nation.
McMahon is entering a pivotal fourth year in Baton Rouge, and he’s leaving no stone unturned in his push to lead LSU back to the NCAA Tournament.
