The LSU
LSU’s Spring Camp is drawing to a close, and head coach Brian Kelly has been impressed by several players who are already making an impact. As the Tigers prepare for the 2025 season, a mix of returning talent and new additions are stepping up. Here are the standout performers so far:
1. Gabriel Reliford – EDGE
Second-year player Gabriel Reliford has been a standout, impressing with his size and physicality. Coach Kelly highlighted his ability to play against the run and get after the quarterback, noting that he’s past the learning phase and ready to deliver consistent, strong performances.
2. Jack Pyburn – EDGE (Florida)
Transferring from Florida, Jack Pyburn brings experience and explosive edge rushing to LSU’s defense. After a strong season with the Gators, where he had 60 tackles and 4 tackles for loss, Pyburn’s disruptive playmaking ability is already showing in Baton Rouge.
3. DJ Pickett – Cornerback
Early enrollee DJ Pickett has lived up to the hype. Standing at 6-foot-4, Pickett has been turning heads, with teammates praising his work ethic and progress since arriving. Known as the No. 1 cornerback in the country, Pickett has quickly become a standout in LSU’s secondary.
4. Barion Brown – Wide Receiver (Kentucky)
Transferred from Kentucky, Barion Brown has been one of the most exciting players of LSU’s spring practices. Known for his speed and athleticism, Brown’s connection with LSU’s coaches and his elite skills make him a promising addition to the Tigers’ wide receiver corps.
5. Bauer Sharp – Tight End (Oklahoma)
Transfer Bauer Sharp has quickly earned praise for both his on-field ability and leadership qualities. Leading Oklahoma in receptions and receiving yards in 2024, Sharp brings a combination of toughness, discipline, and skill that Coach Kelly believes will help LSU in the upcoming season.
As Spring Camp winds down, these players are setting themselves up for significant roles, and the LSU Tigers are primed for a strong 2025 campaign.
