Braves Power Past Twins With Three Homers to Complete Series Sweep

The Atlanta Braves used a trio of home runs and a strong outing from Grant Holmes to secure a 6–2 win over the Minnesota Twins on Sunday, completing a three-game sweep at home.

Matt Olson, Drake Baldwin, and Marcell Ozuna all went yard as Atlanta extended its dominance over Minnesota to 11 straight wins.

Holmes (2–1) delivered a solid performance, tossing 5 2/3 innings and giving up just one run on four hits and four walks, while striking out a season-high seven. The right-hander worked out of bases-loaded situations in both the fourth and fifth innings, limiting the damage to a single run on a wild pitch — and earning his first career win against the Twins in the process.

Enyel De Los Santos took over to get the final out of the sixth and pitched through the seventh, allowing one run. Pierce Johnson closed it out with two scoreless innings, striking out two.

Twins starter Joe Ryan (1–2) was tagged for six runs over five innings, surrendering eight hits, one walk, and all three Braves home runs, while striking out five.

Minnesota’s bullpen — Louis Varland, Jhoan Duran, and Danny Coulombe — held firm, combining for three perfect innings in relief.

Atlanta wasted no time getting on the board. Olson crushed a two-run homer in the first inning — his third of the season — and Austin Riley added an RBI single in the second to make it 3–0. Baldwin followed with a two-run shot in the third, and Ozuna launched his fourth homer of the season to lead off the fifth.

Byron Buxton provided a bright spot for the Twins, smashing a 434-foot solo homer to center in the seventh — his fourth of the year. The Georgia native went 2-for-5 on the day, with a double, and finished the series 5-for-13.

The loss dropped Minnesota to 2–7 in interleague play and just 4–15 against National League opponents dating back to August 25, 2024. Meanwhile, Atlanta improved to 5–4 against AL teams — all within their last nine games.
