MAJOR-BREAKING: Braves Predicted To Land Star Red Sox Outfielder In Blockbuster Trade

The Atlanta Braves are in urgent need of an outfielder following Jurickson Profar’s 80-game suspension for testing positive for PEDs, which will also keep him out of the postseason.

While the return of Ronald Acuña Jr. will help, it likely won’t be enough to keep the Braves competitive unless they acquire another star outfielder. Recently, Jon Conahan of Athlon Sports suggested that the Braves could make a blockbuster trade with the Boston Red Sox to replace Profar with standout outfielder Wilyer Abreu.

Wilyer Abreu.

Abreu has been one of the top players in MLB during the first eight games of the 2025 season, hitting .500/.621/1.000 with three home runs,” Conahan wrote. “While the Red Sox may not need many prospects in return, the Braves could make a compelling offer due to their outfield situation.”

Abreu’s hot start makes it increasingly unlikely the Red Sox will trade him, but if the Braves can overwhelm Boston with an attractive deal, they might land him. A potential trade could involve top pitching prospect Hurston Waldrep, along with Bryce Elder and possibly another promising position player. This package might be enough to convince the Red Sox to part with the 25-year-old outfielder.
