MAJOR-BREAKING; Yankees’ $200 Million Gamble: Astros Game-Changer Player Destined To Land With AL Contender After Bombshell.

For much of the free agency period, Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman was expected to re-sign with the team. However, the Astros shifted their focus after the two sides were nearly $50 million apart in contract negotiations. Houston subsequently acquired Isaac Paredes to play third base and Christian Walker to play first base. As a result, the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, and Detroit Tigers are now considered the top contenders for Bregman, with the Astros seemingly out of the running.

Both AL East teams, the Yankees and Red Sox, could be good fits for Bregman under certain conditions. The Yankees, if willing to spend another $200 million after an already busy offseason, would be a logical option, though the money could be an issue.

The Red Sox, on the other hand, would only make sense if they traded first baseman Triston Casas, moving Rafael Devers to first base and creating space for Bregman at third. MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand, however, doesn’t see either team as a serious contender. He believes the Yankees won’t spend the money to bring in Bregman, and the Red Sox would need to make a trade to make it work.

While Feinsand doesn’t directly call the Detroit Tigers the frontrunners, his assessment that the Yankees and Red Sox may not pursue Bregman suggests that Detroit is in the lead. Feinsand also leaves room for the possibility that either AL East team could still make a bigger push.

However, based on his comments, the Tigers seem to be the most likely destination for the former Astros third baseman. Detroit is in need of an infielder, and signing Bregman to a $200 million deal could serve as a perfect way for the front office to make amends with the fanbase after a disappointing season.
