MAJOR-BREAKING: Yankees Eye Blockbuster Trade for $141 Million Six-Time All-Star

The New York Yankees remain at the center of ongoing MLB trade speculation, particularly in their search for infield reinforcements. Bleacher Report’s Zachary Rymer recently compiled a list of ideal “dream” trades across the league and suggested that Yankees fans dream big — by targeting six-time All-Star José Ramírez of the Cleveland Guardians.

In his June 18, 2025 article, “Dream Landing Spots for MLB’s High-Priced, Change of Scenery Stars Post-Devers Trade,” Rymer highlights the Yankees as a strong potential landing spot for the star third baseman. While Ramírez holds full no-trade protection, Rymer argues that New York’s status as a contender — unlike Cleveland — could make them an appealing destination. Adding Ramírez would allow Jazz Chisholm Jr. to move back to second base, and pairing him with Aaron Judge could form one of the most dangerous duos in the American League.

As for fit, Ramírez’s left-handed power plays well at Yankee Stadium — 170 of his 268 career homers have been hit to right field.

But what would it take to land Ramírez? Given his current seven-year, $141 million deal running through 2028, Cleveland is unlikely to let him go easily. The Guardians would almost certainly demand high-end prospects in return. The Yankees could dangle players like injured pitcher Luis Gil, top prospects George Lombard Jr. or Spencer Jones, or even struggling young outfielder Jasson Domínguez in a potential blockbuster package.

Guardians Insider Sounds off on Jose Ramirez Trade Speculation

José Ramírez

USA Today’s Bob Nightengale reported in May that the Yankees are “aggressively searching” for infield help — especially a right-handed bat at third base — along with another starting pitcher. However, the market may be thin. As MLB Trade Rumors’ Nick Deeds noted, right-handed infield bats are in short supply, and many potential trade partners, such as the Cardinals or Rangers, are still in the playoff hunt with two months to go before the deadline.

For now, a trade for José Ramírez remains a dream scenario — but it’s one that fits both the Yankees’ needs and their ambition.
