MAJOR-BREAKING: Yankees Lose Top Experience Relief Pitcher To Brewers In Blockbuster Deal

The Milwaukee Brewers are currently hovering in the middle of the NL Central standings, just past the midway point of the season’s second full month. After tallying 90 or more wins in three of the last four years, the Brewers have stumbled out of the gate in 2025. Following the trade that sent star closer Devin Williams to the New York Yankees, Milwaukee struck another deal with the Bronx Bombers on Friday.

This time, the Brewers acquired relief pitcher Rob Zastryzny from New York in exchange for cash, the team announced via social media. Zastryzny, who appeared in nine games for Milwaukee last season, returns to bolster manager Pat Murphy’s bullpen and add depth behind relievers like Tyler Megill as the Brewers look to climb back into playoff contention.

Though 33 years old, Zastryzny brings experience and resilience to the mix. He’s logged seven seasons in the majors, despite a lengthy gap between 2018 and 2022 when he didn’t appear in a big-league game. The right-hander gives Murphy another seasoned arm to call on in high-leverage situations.

Zastryzny had initially signed a minor league contract with the Yankees after being claimed by the Chicago Cubs earlier in 2024. He later opted for free agency, ultimately landing in New York. The trade allows the Yankees to free up some cash for other potential roster moves.
