MAJOR-BREAKING: Yankees Set To Part Ways With $90M Star Once Stanton is Back

Giancarlo Stanton Nearing Return — Could DJ LeMahieu Be on the Chopping Block?

The New York Yankees could soon see a major lineup boost as Giancarlo Stanton inches closer to returning from the injured list. Stanton, sidelined since spring training with elbow issues, is reportedly nearing a rehab assignment, according to Yankees GM Brian Cashman.

“Stanton’s been doing everything — hitting, running, and now gearing up for live batting practice over the next two weeks,” said Cashman. “He’s almost ready.”

With Stanton’s return imminent, questions are swirling around veteran infielder DJ LeMahieu’s future in the Bronx. MLB analyst Andrew Wright (Newsweek) believes the Yankees may finally move on from the struggling three-time All-Star, especially if his performance doesn’t improve soon.

LeMahieu has returned from the IL but hasn’t provided much value, batting just .184 with 1 home run and 3 RBIs over 38 at-bats. Despite his decorated past — including four Gold Gloves and two Silver Sluggers — his continued injuries and declining production have made his six-year, $90 million contract look like a burden in its fifth season.

The Yankees could opt to replace him with younger options like Jazz Chisholm Jr. or Oswald Peraza, while Stanton’s return would provide the offensive firepower they desperately need.

Last season, Stanton hit .233 with 27 home runs and 72 RBIs — and elevated his play in the postseason, slashing .273 with 7 homers and 16 RBIs to help lead the Yankees to the World Series.

Now in year 13 of his $325 million mega-deal, Stanton’s looming return could mark a turning point — and potentially the end of LeMahieu’s time in pinstripes.
