New York Giants rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers has been sidelined this offseason due to a lingering toe injury and has yet to participate in any practices. On Friday, head coach Brian Daboll provided an update on his status.
Daboll explained that the toe issue dates back to Nabers’ time at LSU, but it wasn’t considered a red flag during the draft process. The 21-year-old receiver is making progress in his recovery and recently took part in a team walkthrough, according to Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk.
He got some walkthrough reps in, and he’s coming along,” Daboll said. “He’ll be okay.”
The Giants appear to be taking a cautious approach, prioritizing Nabers’ long-term health over rushing him back too soon. If his recovery continues on track, Nabers is expected to be ready by the start of training camp in July—and well positioned to make an impact at the start of the season.
