MAJOR-NEWS: Aaron Rodgers Could Be the Key to Sending the Vikings to Ireland in 2025!

  • At this point, most Vikings fans are probably worn out from all the Aaron Rodgers talk. The former Packers legend and current Jets letdown has somehow remained a topic around Minnesota this offseason—even though he doesn’t fit into the team’s 2025 plans. Still, the 41-year-old quarterback might end up influencing the Vikings in an unexpected way.

Rodgers’ next team could directly affect Minnesota’s schedule, particularly when it comes to the NFL’s International Games series.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are set to host a game at Dublin’s historic Croke Park in 2025. As one of their road opponents, the Vikings are in the pool of possible teams to face them overseas. That list also includes the Ravens, Browns, Bengals, Bills, Dolphins, Colts, Packers, and Seahawks.

According to Ben Goessling of the Star Tribune, the Packers are currently rumored to be the leading candidate. However, if Rodgers signs with the Steelers, the NFL may prefer to keep a Steelers-Packers matchup stateside for the storyline of Rodgers facing his old team—potentially opening the door for the Vikings, Bills, or Seahawks to travel to Ireland instead.

The Vikings are no strangers to international matchups and would likely welcome the opportunity to make history in Ireland. In fact, Minnesota is scheduled to face three teams this season that are already involved in international games. There’s even a slim chance they could kick off the season in Brazil against the Chargers or meet the Browns again in London—though that would be a repeat appearance for European fans.

With the full NFL schedule expected sometime in mid-May, Vikings fans will have to wait and see. It’s a strange twist, but Aaron Rodgers’ next move could very well be the domino that sends the Vikings to Ireland in 2025.
