MAJOR-NEWS: Bold and Shocking As Yankees Stun Fans by Trading Red-Hot Slugger To Braves in Shocking 1-for-1 Deal

The New York Yankees’ journey to the top of the American League East has come with its share of unexpected developments. On the downside, they’ve lost ace Gerrit Cole to a season-ending injury, and former star closer Devin Williams has struggled with a dismal 8.36 ERA. On the bright side, veteran slugger Paul Goldschmidt has found new life at the plate, and Ben Rice has emerged as a powerful leadoff hitter. However, perhaps the most pleasant surprise has been Trent Grisham.

Acquired alongside Juan Soto in a trade with the Padres before last season, Grisham underwhelmed in his first year with the Yankees, posting a .190/.290/.385 slash line over 179 at-bats. This season, though, he’s been on fire, slashing .294/.374/.651 with 12 home runs and 22 RBIs—placing him among the top five home run hitters in the league, alongside stars like Shohei Ohtani.

Despite his breakout performance, the Yankees have a crowded outfield and other areas on the roster that may require attention, especially with injuries plaguing their pitching staff. That’s why TJ French of Heavy suggested a potential trade that would send Grisham to the Atlanta Braves in return for starting pitcher Grant Holmes.

This could be an ideal time for the Yankees to sell high on Grisham, who may not maintain this level of performance,” French noted. Holmes, who has a 4.14 ERA over eight starts with Atlanta, could offer the Yankees a solid middle-rotation option, especially with Will Warren struggling and Marcus Stroman still recovering from injury setbacks.

While trading Grisham amid a breakout season might be tough for fans, it could prove to be a savvy move to strengthen a rotation in need of reinforcements.
