MAJOR-NEWS: Ex-Vikings TE Nick Muse Shocks NFL Fans With Surprise Move To Eagles’ Practice Squad

Former Minnesota Vikings tight end Nick Muse joined the Philadelphia Eagles’ practice squad this week after spending the 2024 season on the Vikings’ practice squad. Muse, who had not signed a reserve/futures deal with Minnesota, was free to sign with Philadelphia just ahead of Sunday’s NFC Championship Game against the Washington Commanders. While he won’t play in that game, there is a possibility he could ink a futures deal with the Eagles, securing a spot on their offseason roster as they prepare for 2025.

Muse, drafted 227th overall by the Vikings in 2022 out of South Carolina, was the last pick in what is now considered a lackluster draft class for Minnesota. Over the past three seasons, he appeared in 16 regular season games, with minimal offensive involvement (19 snaps) but a more significant role on special teams (182 snaps). He also had a solid preseason showing, recording 15 receptions for 146 yards and a touchdown. His lone regular season catch came in the 2023 finale—a 22-yard reception against the Lions.

In 2024, Muse played in three games, but his most memorable moment was being waived by the Vikings just hours after they publicly wished him a happy birthday on social media. Afterward, he stayed with the team on their practice squad.

Looking back at the Vikings’ 2022 draft, just four of their 10 selections—Ed Ingram, Brian Asamoah II, Ty Chandler, and Jalen Nailor—remain on the roster as they enter the final year of their rookie contracts. Ingram was benched as the starting right guard this season, Chandler and Asamoah saw limited action, and Nailor had an inconsistent year as the team’s WR3. Six other players from that class, including Muse, have already departed the team.

As the Vikings head into the 2025 season, T.J. Hockenson and Josh Oliver are expected to be the top tight ends, with Oliver potentially in line for an extension. With Johnny Mundt and Robert Tonyan set to become free agents, the team will need to either retain or add more depth at the position.
