MAJOR-NEWS: From 3-14 Disaster to WR Dominance As $29 Million Giants Star Named One of the NFL’s Top Players

The New York Giants endured a rough 2024 season, finishing with a disappointing 3–14 record. However, there’s reason for optimism heading into the new year. With fresh talent added to the roster, the 2025 season could mark a turning point for the team.

Despite the challenges of last season — including the loss of quarterback Daniel Jones — one major positive stood out, and he remains a key piece going forward. Now, he’ll be paired with veteran quarterback Russell Wilson, which could further elevate his game.

Malik Nabers Emerges as a Top WR in the NFL

According to a May 21 article by PFF’s Trevor Sikkema, one of the Giants’ brightest stars, wide receiver Malik Nabers, ranks among the NFL’s elite. Using a mix of advanced stats, film breakdowns, and scheme analysis, Sikkema compiled a list of the top 32 wide receivers heading into the 2025 season — and Nabers comes in at No. 12.

“Wide receiver remains one of the most dynamic and scheme-defining roles in today’s NFL,” Sikkema writes. “From explosive slot options to dominant outside threats, the league’s top receivers possess unique skill sets that force defenses to adjust and elevate their quarterbacks’ performance.”

Nabers, who signed a four-year, $29.2 million rookie deal with the Giants in 2024 (including an $18 million signing bonus), impressed despite instability at the quarterback position. “Nabers was outstanding in his rookie season despite inconsistent quarterback play,” Sikkema notes. “He earned an 87.1 receiving grade — ninth-best in the league — and averaged 2.17 yards per route run, a strong mark that hints at even greater potential as the offense improves.”

Topping Sikkema’s list is A.J. Brown of the Philadelphia Eagles, widely regarded as the best in the league. “Brown consistently dominates defensive backs, especially in single coverage,” Sikkema writes. “He earned a league-best 96.6 grade in that area in 2024 and has led the NFL in single-coverage receiving grade over the past three seasons (2022–24) with a 97.0.”

While the Giants still have work to do, the emergence of Malik Nabers gives them a cornerstone to build around — and with Russell Wilson now under center, the potential for offensive growth is real.
