MAJOR-NEWS: Massive Addition As Kentucky Officially Lands Top Experience Player To Bolster Defense.

The Kentucky Wildcats are making a splash in the transfer portal, and their latest acquisition is a major one.

Defensive lineman David Gusta, a standout transfer from Washington State, has officially committed to Kentucky, choosing the Wildcats over Texas A&M and Tennessee.

Breaking the news first, On3’s Hayes Fawcett revealed that Gusta, a 6-foot-3, 302-pound powerhouse, is bringing a wealth of experience and versatility to Kentucky’s defensive line. During his time with the Cougars, he became a key contributor, excelling at stopping the run and putting pressure on opposing quarterbacks.

In the 2024 season, Gusta registered 21 tackles, three pass deflections, and one sack, earning an impressive 84.5 Pro Football Focus grade—ranking 10th among all interior defensive linemen in college football.

Over his three seasons at Washington State, Gusta accumulated 62 total tackles, six tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and four pass deflections. His arrival comes at a crucial time for Kentucky, who needed to strengthen their defensive front after the departure of Keeshawn Silver. Gusta’s size, athleticism, and experience fill a vital need for the Wildcats as they gear up for a challenging 2025 SEC season.

With Gusta now in the fold, Kentucky fans can look forward to a revamped defensive line. This addition underscores the Wildcats’ commitment to building a powerful presence in the trenches, making it a major win for the program.
