MAJOR-NEWS: Unexpected Outcome As Yankees Lose Top Experience Right-handed Pitcher To White Sox

OwenRight-handed pitcher  Owen White, who was designated for assignment by the Yankees last week, was claimed by the White Sox on Monday.

White was removed from the Yankees’ 40-man roster to make room for left-handed pitcher Brent Headrick last Tuesday.

The Yankees originally claimed White from the Reds on waivers on February 5. A former top prospect in the Rangers’ system, the 25-year-old has a rough 16.71 ERA across five big-league appearances with Texas from 2023 to 2024. Last season, White primarily played with Triple-A Round Rock in the Rangers’ organization, where he posted a 5.64 ERA over 29 games (15 starts).

Recently, the Yankees have been active in acquiring high-potential arms, either adding them to the 40-man roster or inviting them to spring training as non-roster invitees. Left-handed pitchers Tyler Matzek, Jayvien Sandridge, and Rob Zastryzny were all added to the Yankees’ NRI list this month.
