Andrew Carr has been one of the Kentucky Wildcats’ key players this season, especially during certain stretches of play. While Lamont Butler and Otega Oweh have also been important contributors, Carr has been consistently strong offensively, which has been crucial for the team’s success.
With the Wildcats now on a two-game losing streak after falling to Vanderbilt on Saturday, the question of when Carr will be back to full strength is becoming even more urgent for fans.
Carr did suit up the following Saturday against Alabama, but he played just 18 minutes, shooting 1/4 from the field and clearly wasn’t at his best. He also struggled defensively, adding to his challenges.

He didn’t play in Nashville, and more concerning were comments from head coach Mark Pope during the pregame radio show about Carr’s recovery. Pope initially mentioned “a few weeks” before quickly correcting himself to “a few days” regarding when Carr might return. Carr spent his first two years at Delaware before transferring to Wake Forest, where he played two more seasons. Now in his fourth year, Carr is averaging double digits, with 10.9 points per game in his first season with Kentucky and shooting 53.9% from the field.
Carr has been Kentucky’s top big man for most of the season, and his injury has cast a shadow over the team’s recent performance. With SEC play intensifying, the Wildcats need him back more than ever.
Hopefully, Carr’s recovery picks up soon, as Kentucky’s upcoming game against Tennessee will present another tough challenge.
