The Atlanta Falcons are facing a quarterback dilemma involving Kirk Cousins. After inking a four-year, $180 million deal in free agency last year, Cousins was ultimately benched late in the season in favor of rookie Michael Penix Jr.—fueling a wave of trade speculation heading into the offseason.

Now, with the 2025 NFL Draft approaching, Dianna Russini of The Athletic is predicting that Cousins could be on the move. Although he has reported for Atlanta’s voluntary offseason workouts, his time with the team may be nearing its end. Russini believes a trade could go down on Day 3 of the draft.
She even floated the idea of Cousins returning to the Minnesota Vikings, while also naming the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants as potential suitors. That said, Russini noted that a Minnesota reunion is considered unlikely due to the team’s commitment to J.J. McCarthy and the fact that Cousins would need to approve any deal. It’s believed he’d reject a trade that places him behind a young quarterback—similar to what he experienced in Atlanta.
