Blake Brandel has been with the Minnesota Vikings for the past four seasons, playing in 56 games during that time. He was selected in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft after a strong college career at Oregon State, where he started 48 straight games and earned second-team All-Pac-12 recognition in 2019.
Brandel started every game for the Vikings in 2024, but due to the team’s recent offseason additions, there’s growing speculation that his time in Minnesota may be nearing its end.
Guard Blake Brandel started all 17 games for the Vikings last season, following a year on the practice squad and three seasons as a backup,” Kristopher Knox wrote on May 16. “But his starting role could be short-lived.
The team signed Will Fries in free agency and selected Donovan Jackson in the first round of the draft. These moves likely relegate Brandel to a reserve role once again—and with Minnesota able to save $1.6 million by cutting him, his roster spot may be in jeopardy.”
In a recent article for Bleacher Report, Knox named the top player on each NFL team who might still be released, and Brandel was his pick for the Vikings.
