As the 2025 NFL Draft approaches, the New York Giants could choose the simplest path—stay at the No. 3 spot and select one of the top three prospects available. If you’re a Giants fan and hear whispers of the team potentially trading down, you might be understandably skeptical.
According to ESPN’s Peter Schrager, the Giants are among the teams listening to trade offers for their high draft pick. While the Titans are holding firm with the No. 1 selection, both the Browns (No. 2) and Giants (No. 3) have reportedly been contacted about possible trades in the last couple of days—and neither team has outright declined.
Sources suggest that teams looking to move up are targeting top-tier talent like Colorado’s two-way standout Travis Hunter, Penn State’s dynamic edge rusher Abdul Carter, or Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty. So, the question becomes: Do you trust GM Joe Schoen to pull off a trade that favors the Giants? Or would you rather see them play it safe and make their pick at No. 3?

There’s undeniable value in standing pat, as elite prospects will still be on the board. But there’s also potential value in trading down, especially if the return is significant enough to be considered a “blockbuster.” Still, a move of that magnitude would likely spark debate.
As beat writer Anthony Licciardi points out, it’s possible the Giants are eyeing a quarterback—perhaps Shedeur Sanders from Colorado—and are exploring ways to acquire him later in the first round while also gaining more draft capital. That might be a smarter way to go than reaching for him at No. 3.
Ultimately, the big question looms: Do the Giants need a collection of quality players, or just one potential superstar? And can their GM be trusted to make that pivotal decision? One way or another, the Giants—and their fans—are about to face a franchise-defining moment.
