South Carolina defensive back Myles Norwood is preparing to move on from the program, as he plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal in search of a new destination for his final season of eligibility.
Norwood joined the Gamecocks ahead of the 2025 season but will now look for his fourth college stop. His path has included time at Iowa State, Ball State, and South Carolina, with one remaining year to play.
Originally a collegiate track athlete, Norwood’s athletic journey began at Iowa Western Community College, where he competed in track and field before transitioning to football. He later transferred to Iowa State to play under then-head coach Matt Campbell, appearing in one game during the 2022 season. His career then took several turns, including a brief stop at New Mexico State in early 2024 that never resulted in game action, before landing at Ball State just months later.

Norwood found his footing with the Cardinals, playing in all 12 games and earning seven starts. He totaled 38 tackles, added two tackles for loss, recovered a fumble, and led the team with 10 pass breakups during a breakout season. That performance earned him a move to South Carolina for 2025.
While in Columbia, Norwood appeared in 10 games and made two starts, finishing the season with 19 total tackles.
Norwood is one of 11 Gamecocks to enter the transfer portal so far this offseason, with the offensive line group experiencing the most turnover. Players departing include Tree Babalade, Cason Henry, Brian Rowe Jr., Air Noland, Mac Walters, Nick Sharpe, Trovon Baugh, Zavian Hardy, Jaron Willis, Taeshawn Alston, and Peyton Argent.
South Carolina has also seen several players declare for the 2026 NFL Draft. Wide receiver Jared Brown recently announced his decision, joining Monkell Goodwine, Nick Barrett, and Bryan Thomas Jr., while tight end Jordan Dingle is widely expected to follow as his eligibility expires.
