South Carolina’s offensive line turnover is expected to grow even larger, as Gamecocks center Boaz Stanley is reportedly preparing to enter the transfer portal when it opens on Friday, according to Gamecock Central.
Stanley would become South Carolina’s 13th scholarship player to depart this offseason, further highlighting the significant roster shakeup along the offensive front. His exit follows a difficult 2025 campaign in which the Gamecocks finished 4–8 and surrendered 43 sacks — a total that ranked 132nd out of 134 FBS teams.
Stanley joins a growing list of offensive linemen who have already announced plans to transfer, including Cason Henry, Trovon Baugh, Tree Babalade, Nick Sharpe, and Rodney Newsom Jr. Notably, each of those players logged starts for South Carolina during the 2025 season.
Few departures carry as much disappointment as Stanley’s. After transferring in from Troy last offseason, he appeared to be the most game-ready of South Carolina’s portal additions. Following spring practice, head coach Shane Beamer strongly indicated Stanley would be the team’s starting center.
Stanley did open the season as the starter, starting the first three games before being replaced by Nolan Hay and later Newsom. He reclaimed the job against Oklahoma, only to lose it again ahead of the Clemson game when Hay returned to full health.
With the offensive line now facing a mass departure of experienced contributors, the pressure shifts squarely onto new offensive line coach Randy Clements. Clements, who replaced Lonnie Teasley after his dismissal, will be tasked with rebuilding the unit through the transfer portal — and doing so with players capable of contributing immediately.
