The Minnesota Vikings still have several roster needs to address this offseason, and while safety may not be at the top of their list, cornerback remains a major focus.
Just last year, the Vikings moved on from 2022 second-round pick Andrew Booth Jr., trading him to the Cowboys for former third-rounder Nahshon Wright. But things didn’t pan out for either player. Booth was cut by Dallas before the end of the 2024 season, and Wright didn’t last long in Minnesota either — appearing in just one game (Week 13 vs. Arizona) and playing only on special teams.
On Monday, the Vikings officially released Wright. But he didn’t stay unemployed for long.

Just one day after being let go, Wright found a new home — signing a one-year deal with the Chicago Bears, staying in the NFC North and becoming a potential problem for his old team twice a year.
Wright, 26, brings some experience with 33 career games under his belt (mostly with Dallas), including three starts. His career totals include 37 tackles, one interception, and five pass breakups.
Following Wright’s release, Minnesota’s cornerback group includes newly re-signed Byron Murphy Jr. alongside Mekhi Blackmon, Najee Thompson, and new additions Isaiah Rodgers, Jeff Okudah, and Tavierre Thomas — a reshaped unit still looking for stability.
