Shock Draft Move? Vikings Tipped as Top Candidate to Trade Out of Round 1!

With just 18 days until the NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings remain one of the most unpredictable teams in the first round. Could they stay put at pick No. 24? It’s possible—but many analysts believe that would only happen if a top target unexpectedly falls into their lap.

In his recent draft notes, ESPN’s Matt Miller highlighted Minnesota as a strong candidate to trade back. The Vikings currently hold just four total picks and are without a second-rounder, giving them the least draft capital of any team. Sliding down a few spots—potentially to Buffalo at No. 30 or Kansas City at No. 31—could allow them to gain additional picks while still addressing key roster needs.

Their biggest areas of need, particularly in the secondary and along the defensive line, don’t appear to be high-priority positions for teams drafting behind them. That gives Minnesota a potential advantage: trading back while still landing the player they likely would have taken at No. 24.

If general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah pulls it off, it could be another savvy draft-day move in his growing reputation for strategic roster building.
