The Vikings are confident that McCarthy is the quarterback of the future, meaning if Rodgers wants to keep playing, he may need to sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers. According to Albert Breer, there’s no uncertainty for head coach Kevin O’Connell—the Vikings are moving forward with McCarthy. Breer also noted that the team’s exploration of signing Sam Darnold and Daniel Jones, followed by considering a Rodgers reunion, highlights the current state of Minnesota’s roster.
While the Vikings possess a Super Bowl-caliber offense with weapons like Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison, the key question after Darnold’s departure is whether McCarthy is ready to elevate his game for a playoff run.
