Garrett Crochet, a former Tennessee Volunteers pitcher, has secured a record-breaking contract extension with the Boston Red Sox, just one game into the new MLB season.
BREAKING: Left-handed pitcher Garrett Crochet and the Red Sox have agreed to a six-year, $170 million deal, with sources reporting to ESPN. The extension kicks off in 2026 and includes an opt-out option after the 2030 season. This deal marks the largest contract ever given to a pitcher with over four years of MLB service.
Crochet, who made his Red Sox debut on opening day, pitched five innings, striking out four batters and allowing just two runs. Before joining Boston, Crochet had spent his entire career with the White Sox, quickly rising to prominence. Last season, he finished with 32 starts, 146 innings, 209 strikeouts, and a 3.58 ERA.
