Arden Conyers will continue his college basketball career without leaving the Carolinas.
The former South Carolina Gamecock announced Wednesday on Instagram that he is transferring to Charlotte to join the 49ers men’s basketball team. Conyers had entered the transfer portal on March 24 and ultimately chose Charlotte after weighing offers from Xavier, UAB, Indiana State, UNC Wilmington, UT San Antonio, and Tulsa.
“I picked Charlotte because I trust the coach and believe he will help me grow as a player,” Conyers told The State.
A former three-star prospect out of Westwood High School, Conyers averaged 21.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game as a senior. He redshirted his first year at South Carolina before earning a bigger role this past season, appearing in 23 games and averaging 4.3 points. He recorded four double-digit scoring performances, including a 13-point effort against Auburn.
Conyers is the first of six South Carolina players who entered the portal this offseason to find a new home. Others departing the program include guards Austin Herro, Zach Davis, Jamarii Thomas, Cam Scott, and forward Nick Pringle. Pringle also announced plans to enter the 2025 NBA Draft pool to receive feedback from scouts.
Charlotte is coming off a difficult 11-22 season and recently lost its leading scorer, Nik Graves, to the transfer portal. Graves has since committed to Creighton.
