Colorado’s Travis Hunter is poised to be one of the most exciting prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft. Whether he’s the No. 1 overall pick or not, the two-way star won’t have to wait long to hear his name called in April. The NFL itself seems confident in his potential, as evidenced by a joint Instagram reel posted by the NFL, NFL Network, the NFL Draft, and The Checkdown, captioned, “Travis Hunter is gonna be special in the league.” Hunter’s mother, Ferrante Edmonds, reposted the video with a proud message: “Go Son.”

Hunter, who won the Heisman Trophy this past season, has been a standout on both offense and defense for the Buffaloes. He also earned awards recognizing him as the best defensive player and receiver in the country. His rare versatility has made him a generational talent, with ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. suggesting he could play both ways in the NFL, just as he did in college.

Hunter has made it clear that his goal is to be the No. 1 pick. “If it ain’t the No. 1 pick, don’t even call my phone,” he told Cam Newton on Newton’s podcast. “I done work too hard for this. … My dream was to get to the NFL, but I knew one way I wanted to get there, and I wanted to be the No. 1 pick. I want everyone to be like, ‘The first name they called was Travis Hunter.’ I don’t wanna be over there waiting.”

In his latest mock draft, Kiper projected Hunter to the New York Giants at No. 3 overall, calling him the best player in the draft. “If you’re picking where (they) are and you get the best player in the draft, that’s pretty doggone good,” Kiper said on ESPN’s *First Take*. He praised Hunter’s ability to excel on both sides of the ball, noting, “This kid is unbelievable, he is generational.”

Hunter has also been linked to the Tennessee Titans and Cleveland Browns, who hold the No. 1 and No. 2 picks, respectively. Wherever he lands, Hunter will bring a level of versatility and athleticism rarely seen in the NFL since the specialization of positions. His unique skill set makes him a game-changer, and his draft journey will be one to watch.
