Vikings Boost Offensive-Line with Key Addition: Top Experience Former 49ers Justin Skule Signs with Minnesota

The Minnesota Vikings have bolstered their offensive line by signing offensive tackle Justin Skule, who could play a crucial backup role depending on how the depth chart shakes out.

The terms of the deal have not been disclosed, but the Vikings confirmed the agreement on Thursday.

Skule was selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft after playing at Vanderbilt. Over his first two seasons (2019-2020), he played in 12 games, starting in four of them. However, his career hit a setback in 2021 when he tore his ACL during training camp, causing him to miss the entire season.

After being released by the 49ers during the 2022 preseason, Skule signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ practice squad. He played in just one game for the Bucs in 2022 but was active for all games over the past two seasons, making five starts.

And in case you’re wondering, his last name is pronounced “school,” not “Skol,” which would have been a cool nod to Minnesota fans!

Welcome to the Vikings, Justin!
