“Yankees Eye Shocking $15 Million Trade for Underrated Third Baseman – Is This the Missing Piece?”

With Alex Bregman finalizing a three-year contract with the Boston Red Sox late Wednesday night, the market for third basemen is expected to become more active. This development provides the New York Yankees with an opportunity to seek an improvement at the position without making a significant financial investment or committing to a long-term deal. However, it is unlikely that they will pursue a trade for Nolan Arenado. On paper,

Hi Arenado seems like a good match for the Yankees, but the team appears to have reservations about him. Despite reports from the St. Louis Cardinals camp suggesting that discussions with the Yankees might intensify following Bregman’s signing, this scenario seems improbable. ESPN Insider Buster Olney, along with other reporters connected to the Yankees’ front office, has indicated that there is no interest in Arenado. Olney stated on X.com, “Nolan Arenado is now a key figure in the third base market with Bregman off the board. The Yankees have not engaged in talks with the Cardinals about him.” This sentiment is echoed by YES reporter Jack Curry, SNY’s Andy Martino, and ESPN Insider Jeff Passan, all of whom have reported that the Yankees have shown no genuine interest in Arenado.

So, what options do the Yankees have? With Bregman’s signing with their AL East rival, the market for third basemen should become more accessible. The Arizona Diamondbacks are reportedly open to considering offers for third baseman Eugenio Suarez. Suarez, who is set to earn $15 million this year and will be a free agent after the season, would offer a defensive improvement over DJ LeMahieu or Oswaldo Cabrera. Additionally, Suarez has consistently performed well offensively, hitting at least 20 home runs in each of the last four seasons. Suarez would be a logical fit for the Yankees, who could potentially trade some of their young pitching prospects to the Diamondbacks. In return, the Diamondbacks could easily fill the third base position with their young infielder, Blaze Alexander.
