Blockbuster Deal Brewing? Vikings Linked to All-Pro Cornerback Ahead of NFL Draft

The Miami Dolphins may be exploring trade options for star cornerback Jalen Ramsey this offseason. The three-time All-Pro and seven-time Pro Bowl selection could be on the move yet again, with a potential deal coming as early as NFL Draft week. Ramsey has already made Pro Bowl appearances with three different teams over his eight-year career, and a fourth could be added if the Dolphins find a suitable trade partner.

Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton recently listed the Minnesota Vikings as one of the top five potential landing spots for Ramsey. He cited the team’s uncertainty at cornerback and their need for a proven playmaker in the secondary. With Stephon Gilmore not re-signed and Mekhi Blackmon recovering from an ACL tear, the Vikings have relied on veterans Isaiah Rodgers and Jeff Okudah as temporary solutions.

While Minnesota could address the position in the draft, acquiring Ramsey would offer an immediate upgrade for a pass defense that ranked 28th in yards allowed last season. The proposed trade would send the Vikings’ third-round pick (No. 97 overall) to Miami in exchange for Ramsey, a move that could provide more instant value than a late Day 2 draft selection.

Though Ramsey turns 31 in October, the Vikings have shown they’re not deterred by age—having previously signed Gilmore (34) and Shaquill Griffin. Another factor working in favor of the move: head coach Kevin O’Connell’s history with Ramsey. The two were together in Los Angeles during O’Connell’s time as the Rams’ offensive coordinator in 2020–2021, a stretch that included a Super Bowl win in 2021 and two All-Pro seasons for Ramsey.

If Minnesota is serious about contending in 2025, adding Ramsey could give their defense the edge—and attitude—it’s been missing.
